Over the course of the next week, I'll be introducing you to each of the seven speakers joining us for Future of Farming: Clarity & Direction on Wednesday, 4 November.

First up is Dr Nicholas Ryan, founder of Golden Vale Research in Tipperary.

Nicholas isn't just a researcher. He's also a beef and tillage farmer and a lecturer at South East Technological University.

Through Golden Vale Research, he works with agricultural businesses and universities to conduct independent research into soil health, biological fertilisers, animal health, agricultural technology and more.

But what interests me most about Nicholas is his approach.

There's no shortage of people telling farmers what the future of agriculture should look like. But how many of those ideas actually work on a farm? How many make financial sense? And how many improve the lives of the farmers expected to implement them?

Nicholas is passionate about making agricultural research more accessible to farmers and ensuring sustainability is considered from three perspectives: environmental, financial and social.

I had the pleasure of participating in a panel discussion at Golden Vale Research earlier this year, and I'm delighted to have Nicholas joining us for this event.

On Wednesday, 4 November, from 5:45 pm to 7:00 pm, Nicholas will join six other speakers for an audience-led discussion about the future direction of Irish agriculture.

This isn't about seven people telling farmers what to think. It's about bringing people together, hearing different perspectives and giving the audience a genuine voice in the discussion.

Attendance is free, but registration is required.
